The Charity Commission has announced that it has approved the Trustees’ application to register the Rail Dogs Fund as a charity and has added it to the register of U.K. charities. This decision means that the trustees will now be eligible to apply for administrative support and appropriate grants, as well as maximise gift aid opportunities on donations.

DCC Adrian Hanstock, the Fund’s chairman, said: "The award of charitable status is more great news for the Fund and will help us provide even better support for BTP’s hardworking dogs once they retire from operational service; helping to ensure owners can access support when it’s most needed.

"It will enable us to maximise income earned through the wonderful donations we have received since launching last year, as well as from sales through our WebShop.”
